What to include

• Your QuickLatch version and macOS version.
• The action you were trying to use and what happened instead.
• The exact wording of any error message.
• Whether Screen Recording and Accessibility show as allowed in QuickLatch Settings.

Please redact private information before attaching a capture or recording.

Open Halo

Choose Halo in the Library toolbar. Select Region, Window, Screen, Scroll, Record, or Text. You can use the pointer or keyboard; a trackpad gesture is not required.

For optional gestures, open QuickLatch → Settings → Halo & Gestures. Turn on Enable Trackpad Gestures and assign the finger and tap combination you want to Open Halo. Single and double taps have separate assignments. The Settings preview demonstrates the saved two-finger double-tap action; it does not take a capture or prove a physical gesture was detected.

Permissions

Screen Recording is required for captures. Accessibility is used for window selection and is also required when you enable optional background trackpad gestures or browser-address lookup. Microphone and Speech Recognition are requested only when you use voice notes.

Open QuickLatch → Settings → Permissions to read the current status. If Settings reports that access is granted but capture or gestures still do not work, include the exact message and the QuickLatch app location in your support email. Do not delete your library or repeatedly remove and re-add permissions as a troubleshooting loop.

Use one installed QuickLatch copy. If macOS names an older or unexpected copy, stop and contact support before replacing the app or changing its permissions.

Your captures

A floating latch is a temporary reference. Open the Library and choose Keep on the held-reference card to file that reference in the Library. The separate Save to Library capture action creates a new capture; it is not the command for filing an existing latch.

QuickLatch stores its library locally in the app sandbox. Optional iCloud Drive and custom-folder auto-save remain off until you enable them in Settings → Storage & Sync. Before troubleshooting storage, check those two settings and confirm the destination is available. Exported or synced copies must be managed at their destination separately.

If a saved capture seems missing, check the Library’s search and filters first. Text search uses recognized screenshot text, so unclear or undetected text may not produce a match.

Recreate a screenshot as a web page

Select a screenshot in the Library, then choose Transform Actions → Recreate as Web Page in its inspector. Review the local preview and the HTML and CSS tabs. Copy Code copies the generated code; Export Folder… saves a package to a new folder you choose. Choose a new name if a destination already exists.

This creates a reconstruction of the visible screenshot, not the original site’s source code, hidden pages, working forms, or server logic. Text recognition and layout can be imperfect. Review the generated text, assets, and layout before using them, and use only material you have the right to reuse.

Reconstruction runs on your Mac. You can cancel while it is working. If it reports a failure, keep the message for support; a closed window alone does not mean an export finished. Avoid attaching sensitive screenshots or generated files to a support email.

Browser addresses and recent frames

Settings → Capture contains Browser Context and Visual Time Travel. Browser-address lookup is best-effort and needs Accessibility permission; a missing source link is possible even in a supported browser. Visual Time Travel is off by default and only buffers recent frames after you turn it on.

Privacy

QuickLatch has no user accounts, advertising, analytics, or tracking. Read the full QuickLatch Privacy Policy for details about local processing, optional sync, retention, and deletion. The app’s Help → Privacy Policy command opens that page in your browser.
